It didn’t take long for Verizon and Apple to get their act together, and it looks like indeed Verizon using VoLTE (Voice over LTE) instead of falling back to CDMA will happen before the end of the year. The public beta of iOS 12.1.1 is out, and has enabled this.Read More
Many people have noticed that Facebook for iOS now has a great new "feature": auto play of videos. Videos posted by friends in your timeline will automatically start playing silently (for now) inline in your News Feed. Tapping on the video will bring it full screen with audio. While this feature can be useful for some, it can be a real data hog for others. If you're in a place with a slow connection, or using your cellular data plan, this can cause trouble. As of right now Facebook has only given us the option to disable while on cellular data, but not all together. Unfortunately when I'm flying and using airplane Wi-Fi this will be a huge bottle neck for me.
To disable, tap the Settings icon from your device's home screen. Scroll down to Facebook and tap on it. Then enter the Settings menu and turn on the "Auto-play videos on WiFi only" option.
Want to change Siri's gender? Launch Settings, goto General, then Siri. Tap Voice Gender and make your selection.
This works for those of us in the United States, on any Siri-compatible device running iOS 7.
This tip dates back to the BlackBerry, which I suspect influenced this feature on iOS. When typing on iOS and coming to the end of a sentence, just tap the space bar twice. You will have ended the sentence and begun the next! I find this to be a great time saver over typing the period. This tip works on all iOS devices and iOS versions.
