With the launch of iOS 12.1 comes the feature I was most excited about with this year's iOS update - Dual SIM support. This means I can have not one but two cell carriers active on my phone at a time through the use of eSIM cards.Read More
I'm not a fan of "New Years Resolutions," but I do enjoy setting goals for myself. What's the difference? In my mind resolutions seem to be very arbitrary, not well documented or mesaured, and quickly forgotten, while goals are much more specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and time-bound. Sound familiar? If you've been in the business world for any length of time, you'll recognize these as S.M.A.R.T. goals. I first set annual goals in 2015, and enjoyed the process of working towards them every month. Goals are something I'll to set in order to drive positive, purposeful change in my life.
My Goals for 2017
- Pay off a certain amount of debt
- Read 20 books
- Post four photographs per month
- Journal two times per week
- Cook one new recipe with one new food per week
- Bike 1500 miles
Because I'm a data junkie, I like to track things at intimate levels of details, and do it digitally. This year I'm using the iOS app Strides to help me track my goals. I like that I can enter various types of goals, and it will track. And it syncs between iPhone and iPad, a must-have for me. I did not pay for the upgrades.
I'll detail my goal tracking at the end of each month.
I've had several friends remark to me that they don't like the new Home Button function of pressing to Unlock. I'll tell you how to change a setting to restore prevsious functionality, but PLEASE read the following explanation first.Read More
Update: This feature was removed in iOS 10, and you only have a digital clock now. Miss this feature? Let Apple know.
If you like a digital clock better than an analog clock, and are using the iPhone built-in clock/alarm/timer app, then just tap on the analog clock face to toggle to a digital readout. Tap again to toggle back to the analog clock face. iPad doesn't have this feature as both analog and digital are displayed at once using the awesome map of the Earth. This is available in all recent versions of iOS and in the upcoming release of iOS 9.
Apple just sent invites for a September 9 announcement - just under two weeks away. The announcement is expected to center around a new iPhone, likely called the iPhone 6s (and iPhone 6s Plus). Rumors are also circulating around a new Apple TV that would finally have an App Store. I'm crossing my fingers for that one.
The tagline on the invitation for this event is "Hey Siri, give us a Hint." so I decided to ask Siri for a hint.
