It didn’t take long for Verizon and Apple to get their act together, and it looks like indeed Verizon using VoLTE (Voice over LTE) instead of falling back to CDMA will happen before the end of the year. The public beta of iOS 12.1.1 is out, and has enabled this. …

With the launch of iOS 12.1 comes the feature I was most excited about with this year's iOS update - Dual SIM support. This means I can have not one but two cell carriers active on my phone at a time through the use of eSIM cards. …

I’m not a fan of “New Years Resolutions,” but I do enjoy setting goals for myself. What’s the difference? In my mind resolutions seem to be very arbitrary, not well documented or mesaured, and quickly forgotten, while goals are much more specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and time-bound. Sound familiar? If you’ve been in the business world for any length of time, you’ll recognize these as S.M.A.R.T. goals. I first set annual goals in 2015, and enjoyed the process of working towards them …

iOS Tip: Switch to a Digital Clock in the iPhone World Clock App

In iOS TipTags analog, clock, digital, iphone, world clockAugust 28, 20156 Views6 Comments landon

Update: This feature was removed in iOS 10, and you only have a digital clock now. Miss this feature? Let Apple know. If you like a digital clock better than an analog clock, and are using the iPhone built-in clock/alarm/timer app, then just tap on the analog clock face to toggle to a digital readout. Tap again to toggle back to the analog clock face. iPad doesn’t have this feature as both analog and digital are displayed at once using …

Siri Called Me Desperate – Apple Announcement Sept 9

In Mobile, TechTags apple, iphone, iphone 6s, iphone 6s plus, september, SiriAugust 27, 20157 ViewsLeave a comment landon

Apple just sent invites for a September 9 announcement – just under two weeks away. The announcement is expected to center around a new iPhone, likely called the iPhone 6s (and iPhone 6s Plus). Rumors are also circulating around a new Apple TV that would finally have an App Store. I’m crossing my fingers for that one. The tagline on the invitation for this event is “Hey Siri, give us a Hint.” so I decided to ask Siri for a hint. …

VoLTE/HD Voice on AT&T Live in Dallas

In Mobile, TechTags at&t, dallas, hd voice, iphone, lte, macrumors, speedtest, verizon, volteNovember 4, 20143 ViewsLeave a comment landon

Apparently with no fanfare, AT&T has launched VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) in Dallas, along with what they’re calling HD voice. This service allows for fast data speeds while on a call, and as long as you’re connected to someone also using HD voice on AT&T, you’ll have a very clear connection. I happened to discover this when doing further reading from today’s joint announcement this by AT&T and Verizon that they will support VoLTE interoperability between the two carriers in 2015. Both …

The inverted interrobang can be used to start phrases in Spanish and other language. Some have asked about the inverted interrobang, so here it is! ⸘ Load this post in Safari, copy, then create a keyboard auto-correct, just like with the interrobang, and you can start typing an inverted interrobang on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. I would recommend making the shortcut ‘i?!’ with the ‘i’ standing for inverted. This will only sync to your Mac if you’re running a newer version …
